Please note that this listing is for a PDF knitting pattern only, and not the finished garment or kit.
It may sound corny, but it is genuinely comforting to have friends on your feet!
Sizes: Newborn, (6-12 mos, 2 years, 4 years, 6-10 years), [Adult Small, Adult Medium, Adult Large]
Finished Sock Circumference: 4 (5.25, 5.75, 6.75, 7.75) [8.25, 8.75, 9.75]” / 10 (13.5, 14.5, 17, 19.5) [21, 22, 25] cm
You can knit this pattern with your favorite sock knitting method: Magic Loop, two 24” circulars, DPNs, one 9” circular, or, my personal favorite, three 16-inch circulars.
Knitting with three 16-inch circulars is accomplished very simply by holding half of the sts on each of two needles and working the sts with the third needle; it’s similar to using DPNs with the benefit of the flexible cord. This method also makes it very easy to try on your sock!
If you choose a 9” circular needle, a few extra needles in the size required to get gauge will make it easier to work the heel, toe and bear ears.
Gauge
31 sts/49 rows = 4”/10 cm averaged over stockinette stitch and garter stitch
Note: The gauge has been averaged because there is a difference between the stockinette stitch and garter stitch row gauges. The socks are intended to be worn with negative ease which allows the garter stitch to stretch and fit your foot snugly.
How to Choose a Size
If your foot is in-between sizes, choose the smaller size.
Shown in Adult Small on an 8.5”/ 22 cm foot circumference and worn with 0.25”/ 1 cm negative ease.
