The Modern Rainbow Socks were born out of a love of COLOR! I have seen so many rainbows out there on the Internet that don’t use traditional rainbow colors, and I just think they are so beautiful.
Use a Knitty McPurly Sock Kit or even scraps of your favorite sock yarn from your stash with a full skein for the main color!
This pattern uses a fun chevron colorwork pattern and no-cable-needed cable heel flap and gusset.

The colorwork pattern is most easily worked on a 9” circular needle. Use extra needles for the heels and toes. Detailed directions are given.
If you prefer DPNs, I recommend keeping 32 sts on one DPN (Needle 1) and dividing the other 32 evenly with 16 on each of two DPNs for the back of the sock (Needle 2).
Gauge
33 sts/48 rows = 4”/10 cm in stockinette stitch
Adjust needle size to obtain correct gauge.
